If you ever need to become a master at InDesign, you should hire Anne Marie. When you drop the image on the Master Page, you can not get to the resize handles. Instead, drop the image just outside the Master Page, You now have access to the resize handles. Resize the document to fit the page by Holding down Shift while you drag the top-left resize handle down. Once the document is slightly smaller than the page, drag it over the right side master page.
