Still no luck? Let's try the next one. Is your computer connected to a VPN? The encryption protocols used by these networks are notorious at preventing Windows Sandbox from establishing a connection to the internet. If that's the case, you must disable it. If your VPN has a dedicated applet, you can also use that to disconnect it instead.
Launch Windows Sandbox. It should likely establish a connection to the internet. Once it finishes doing that, you can re-enable the VPN connection on the host — Windows Sandbox will still have access to the internet. Another prime reason as to why Windows Sandbox may fail to connect to the internet lies due to third-party antivirus firewalls. If your computer has one, try disabling it. Afterward, launch Windows Sandbox — it most likely should connect to the internet.
Did disabling the firewall work? To avoid repeating the same every time you want to use Windows Sandbox and to stop leaving your computer unprotected consider adding the Windows Sandbox as an exception to the firewall of the antivirus application. Using Norton Security as an example, get to the Settings panel of the antivirus application, click Firewall, and then add the following path under Program Control:.
Use the following steps to do that. Exit the Windows Sandbox afterward. Remember that aside from finding the MAC address of the Windows Sandbox network connection, the process of adding it to the firewall will differ for each antivirus application out there.
Check the documentation of your antivirus application for specific instructions. A few minutes later it returned and lasted about a minute before it disappeared agai, this time without me having to do anything.
It kept doing this and also each time I tried to connect to a browser it immediately disappeared. It's possible it could be connected to the DNS settings, but Ikjnow nothing about those, so I'm not messing about with them. Rather ridiculously long-winded and not suitable long-term. Thanks for the response Malthusian; very interesting thread.
You clearly know far more about these things than me and seem to have attempted many things to resolve the issue with no success. I have carried out a few of the less complex resolutons you have mentioned and like you no success. Troubleshooter is stating DNS is the problem.
I'm not a major user of VPN, but tend to switch it on when I bank etc. My problem is not just the last few days, it happened months ago as well, although back then reconnecting the internet in the simplest possible way always solved the problem, but not this time.
Norton is running now in normal mode and there are no problems. I've now switched back to classic view in Norton to avoid accidentally switching VPN on. I've only used a VPN since last summer and will resort back to surfing without one until I buy another AV subscription - as you can probably imagine it won't be Norton. I have wondered whether Norton updates conflict with Windows 10 version As mentioned in the above thread my laptop won't update to the newer versions of Windows due to a driver conflict.
I've had the same problem since installing Norton VPN. I just disabled WIFI and it hasn't dropped since. It was dropping within seconds of being turned on. Back to top.
Scube Newbie 1. Reg: Dec This forum thread needs a solution. Kudos 0. When ever I try to use VPN my internet connection fails. I have the same question 2 Stats. Dunandst Contributor 4. Reg: Jul What is going on? Reg: Sep Microsoft have blocked updates to all systems with these drivers As stated no Norton error message Steps to reproduce, simply turn on VPN.
Thanks for your help I've run a Windows troubleshoot, but it simply answers "no internet connection" and no fix is available as it can't turn it back on. Dunandst: I've run a Windows troubleshoot, but it simply answers "no internet connection" and no fix is available as it can't turn it back on.
